Notes
The core of this patch are two Audible Instruments modules:
- "Macro Oscillator 2", which is a software clone of Mutable Instruments' Braids
- "Tidal Modulator", which is a clone of Mutable's Tides 2018
Braids has a bunch of different oscillators modeled within it. This patch uses the "swarm" of seven sawtooth waves to produce a "supersaw" because I wanted to see what those sound like. I modulated the detuning of the saw waves with the Tides clone, which has a bit of a learning curve since it's extremely flexible.
This time around I used the Impromptu ProbKey sequencer to generate a couple of different chords probabilistically, and their GateSeq64 to add some spaces to the sequence. It was really easy to make something that sounded pretty cool, and I used the VCV native Seq-3 sequencer to add a simple toggle between an A and B part.
I reused the kick and snare the "Topograph Plus Substation" track I posted the other day, and used two of the sequence on the GateSeq to drive them. I'm finally understanding how this all works together and can kind of see how you could potentially perform music like this, or at least improvise onto a recording.
